In a significant step to upgrade national infrastructure, RENA and its partner GAIAS delivered a comprehensive Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution to GECOL. This project provides the foundation for a modern smart grid, enabling two-way communication between the utility and its customers to improve efficiency, reduce losses, and enhance overall grid management.

Key System Components

Smart Meters

Advanced meters deployed at customer sites to measure energy consumption in real-time and communicate data securely back to the utility.

Data Concentrator Units (DCUs)

Devices that collect data from thousands of smart meters via Power Line Communication (PLC) and transmit it to the central server.

Head-End System (HES)

The central software platform ("ENERTRAK") that manages data collection, storage, and analysis, providing a web-based interface for GECOL to manage the entire grid.
